About War of Ink
Spring 1601. From a borrowed palace in Avignon, Pope Clement VIII wages the only war left to him: a war of letters. Every letter he sends north is answered, and some are read on the way.
War of Ink is a cryptogram puzzle. Each intercepted letter has been enciphered so that every letter stands for a different one. Use word lengths, common letters and short words to work out the code. Click a cipher letter, then choose the letter you think it hides. Eight letters make a game, and faster solving with fewer hints scores more.
The Crescent Crusade
War of Ink is a free companion game to The Crescent Crusade by M.R. Halloran. If the game hooks you, the full story continues in the book series.
